  • Hold up Rory, Dustin and co – the Chesterfield Golf Club stars are playing first!

Two of our members will tee it up at Royal St George’s just days before the course stages the Open Championship after qualifying to represent England in an international competition.

Bradley Rhodes and Matthew Elks finished in the top two places when we staged a competition in April as part of the R&A’s 9 Hole Challenge.

Their impressive stableford scores of 24 and 23 points bettered those of competitors from scores of other golf clubs across the country and they will now team up to represent England on Saturday – five days before the Open starts on the same course.

Bradley, who has a handicap index of 19.0, and Matthew, who has a handicap index of 13.5, will play holes one, two, nine, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17 and 18 in a competition which includes 42 golfers from six countries.

They’ll be proudly sporting Chesterfield Golf Club shirts when they take to the tee.

  • Talented young players shine in the sun

What an incredible day we had hosting the best young players from across the region in the Midlands’ Schools Championships.

It was a pleasure to welcome the players, their families, and coaches and officials to Chesterfield Golf Club.

With the course set up as a solid test the scoring was superb.

Nottinghamshire’s George Cordall emerged victorious in the boys’ competition with a three-under-par gross score of 68.

The girls’ winner was Derbyshire’s own Isobell Kelly. Playing off the white competition tees, Isobell recorded a brilliant score of 74 to win by two shots from her Derbyshire colleague, Imogen Rafferty.

  • Driving success: New sponsorship secured with leading motor dealership

We’re delighted to have signed a five-year sponsorship deal to extend our relationship with leading motor dealership Vertu Toyota Chesterfield.

If you’ve played golf on the main course recently you may have noticed the striking new Vertu Toyota Chesterfield branding on each of the 18 tee box signs.

Vertu have also exhibited their vehicles at a number of high-profile tournaments which we have staged over the last few weeks and will continue to do so.

Company representatives will have the opportunity to use our clubhouse facilities for meetings and to entertain clients.

And updated Vertu Toyota Chesterfield branding features prominently on the main sign by the clubhouse entrance, which the company has sponsored for a number of years.

It is great to build on the strong relationship which we already have with the team at Vertu Toyota Chesterfield.

Coming hot on the heels of the recent deal we announced with financial firm Sutton McGrath Hartley the latest agreement again speaks volumes about the way our club is viewed by the local business community and brings a further financial boost.

Driving Success: Liz Day, Chairman of the Marketing, Membership and Communications Sub-committee, welcomes Matthew Parkes (left), Sales Manager of Vertu Toyota Chesterfield, and Matthew Smith, Fleet Manager of Vertu Toyota Chesterfield.
