There were almost 60 past captains from clubs all around the county. The feedback from a great majority of past captains was exceptional (I didn’t get to speak with them all).A past member Ron Adams eulogised about the progress that the Club has made since he left, not only the Clubhouse but the fantastic work done on drainage, the greens and fairways. The Chair of the Society, Captain and many other members commented about how great the greens were. Their past experience when the weather has been bad had set their expectations at a low level, expecting to see standing water and a course that had suffered in the bad winter and poor start to spring. What they were presented with was an exceptional course, with quick greens and they paid tribute to all the green staff for their work in delivering a truly memorable day.
A Matlock past captain came up to introduce himself and expressed how much better and further forward our course is compared to theirs at present. His comments were that the course is in great nick and the greens are running quick and true.
It was a real pleasure for me to be Captain of our Club on Monday and receive these accolades and I would like you to pass my thanks and appreciation on to all the Greens Staff for their hard work in preparing our course for this event.
