  • Let’s hear it for the girls!

We’re the proud holders of the Derbyshire Ladies Scratch Team Cup for only the second time in the competition’s near 100-year history.

Until the weekend, Chesterfield GC had won the event just once since its inception in 1924 – and that was way back in 1932.

But our members Eva Myers and Mel Davey etched their place in history when they won the two-person event at Chapel-en-le-Frith GC.

Fourteen-year-old Eva finished third in the 36-hole Derbyshire Ladies Amateur Championships with gross scores of 85 and 81.

Mel finished joint fourth with scores of 82 and 85.

With the best two individual scores counting for the team trophy it meant they combined to lift the coveted silverware.

Perhaps victory was always on the cards… as Mel started the day with a superb albatross two on the par five first.

To cap a great day for Chesterfield GC, Mel’s performance secured her the best net prize too.

And the good news doesn’t end there…

Eva, and Mel will be joined by another of our rising star lady members, 18-year-old Olivia Streets, in representing the Derbyshire 1st team in the Midlands North Region County tournament to be held at Holme Hall Golf Club, Lincolnshire, on 16-18 June.
