- Firstly can we thank the members for the positive support they shown to our cadets and their adults ….. we really do appreciate the positive comments ……
Progress to date
- The Junior Section continues to thrive with up to 21 cadets aged between 8-14 taking part in the regular Tuesday and occasional Monday coaching sessions.
- So far they have covered putting, chipping, 7 iron and long game techniques with Shane, each of which have been followed up with a competitive six hole competition round the cadet course on the practice ground.
- The cadet course is a six hole Par 3 round and each scorecard is being used to produce a cadet handicap. Once a cadet has reached a handicap of 6 they are eligible to enter a 150 yd six hole competition on the main course played from the semi rough.
We now have five cadets playing off a 6 handicap with another six within two shots of the qualifying mark.
As you can see from the attached photos, the cadets have been kept busy
This means we are now in a position to start the 150 yd, 6 hole competitions on the main course with the first event being on 4th June at 4pm – at the same time we will run a six hole cadet course competition for those not yet at the qualifying mark. The games on the main course will each have an adult in attendance and the last game will be followed by adults acting as a buffer.
The club has now invested in the Golf Foundation Junior Passport Scheme that Shane is qualified to operate and this will form the basis for the second six week coaching programme starting on 13 June and run on subsequent Tuesdays from 6-8 pm using the practice ground.
