RosyPosy 11th July - Unfortunately this year there were only a few members with 30 - 36 handicaps taking part in the competition on Tuesday 11th July. Please ladies, I would really stress that if next year there is as little response for entering then the likelihood of it continuing to be run is something to be considered and this would really be a great shame.
Many congratulations to Marie Bonynge who won with 36pts., runner up Liz Day 31 pts.
The Lady Captain presented Marie with a lovely bouquet of roses and the remaining places with a single rose. It really was much appreciated.
Bronze and Silver Teams
Many congratulations to the ladies who played in both the Bronze and Silver Division teams, although we have not won either division, we came close to getting our hands on both trophies! You all did a fantastic job in representing our Club, thank you.
On Thursday 22nd the Silver team - Marie Watson, Carol Gladwin, Ann Lomas, Jaci Elliott and Kath Barnes went to Kedleston for their return match. Hopes were high as we won 5 - 0 at home. However it was not to be. Despite working very hard the team was defeated by 4 - 1, three losses and two halves. Fifteen minutes before the Lady Captain was due to leave, she received an anguished call from a very ill lady who was unable to play at, almost literally, the last minute. Therefore her eternal gratitude goes to Jaci Elliott who bravely stepped up to the plate, and was very unlucky to lose only 2&1. We do have one match left, away at Erewash, quite a challenge! Keep a lookout for the results
The Bronze team played Tapton on Monday 19th and lost 3-2, the Ladies dug deep after all playing in the hot weather both Sunday and Monday.
One final game to go against Alfreton on the 3rd July!
Both divisions are in with a chance of being in the finals if they can win both their last games.
Fifty Shades of Pink! - The ladies held their annual Jean Ballingall Day on Tuesday June 13th. There was a good turn out of very pink ladies who enjoyed good weather and even better craic. The meal was most enjoyable – pink food too – and the winners on the day were Liz Outram and Barbara Sims. Lady Captain Liz used the occasion to bid a very fond farewell to Val Masson who will be leaving us very shortly to move to Haywards Heath to be closer to her family. We wish her and George all the very best as they enter this new and exciting phase in their lives. Both Val and George will be greatly missed.
Monday 12th June, the Bronze Team were at home to Chevin which proved to be a very tight match ending with a draw 2½ to 2½. Well done everyone, we are still in the running to win!
Bronze Division - Many congratulations to our Bronze team who played Chatsworth at home on Monday 5th June winning by 4-1. The weather was awful initially and they did well getting round, however all returned in a good frame of mind and enjoyed the lovely meal Neil had prepared, especially the rhubarb syllabub with wine & cream! The course withstood the rain and the greens remained fast.
Silver Division - Many congratulations to our ladies who succeeded brilliantly at Chevin on Thursday 8th June in very challenging conditions. The team won 3½ to 1½. The team was Marie Watson, Carol Gladwin, Ann Lomas, Lynn East and Pat Taylor. It was a magnificent achievement.
Silver division - The Ladies Silver Team played Kedleston at home on Monday 8th May and the team won 5 - 0. The team was Ann Lomas, Margaret Grindell, Jill More, Hilary Neale and Kath Barnes. They also played Erewash on Monday 15th May but regrettably lost 4 and 1. They were a very tough team to beat as their players were off single figures including a 2 handicap (we won that match), but they all gave it their best and were a credit to our Club
Bronze Division - The Bronze team played Chevin away on Thursday 4th May and won 3-2. Our Ladies gave away a few shots but played very well on a long course against some very good Chevin Ladies. The Bronze team also played Tapton on Thursday 11th May at Tapton but lost 1½ to 3
Spring Meeting - The spring meeting took place on Tuesday 16th May and for the first time in a while all the ladies playing suffered a drenching! However most of the ladies entered into the spirit of the day and played and, surprisingly, some very good scores were recorded, well done everyone. After the game as we sat and enjoyed a lovely tea put on by Neil and his team we gazed at the beautiful display of prizes wishing that we could be one of the winners! The lucky winners were:- Best net, Jill More, best gross, Sheila Gretton, 1st division Pat Taylor, 2nd Division, Pippa Sutherland and 3rd Division Ruth Preston.
Nearest the Pin, Jill More, and Nearest the line, Joyce Holden.
Individual Stableford Result from Tuesday 25th April. Congratulations to: - 1st Rowena Innes 43 pts; 2nd Chris Heathcote 36 pts; 3rd Jane Holmes 35 pts
Silver Division Match - The Silver Division played Chevin at home on Thursday 20th, winning the match by 3—2. Many congratulations girls.
Bronze Team Match - It was a very chilly day at Chatsworth where the Chesterfield Ladies won 3-2, with tricky greens that the Chatsworth Ladies appeared to take in their stride. Afterwards the team was treated to afternoon cream tea. Many congratulations to you all.
Sunday’s Easter 3Am Competition - 1st Kath Barnes/Pat Taylor/Liz Cromwell; 2nd Ann Lomas/Sue Drake/Joan Bywater; 3rd Kim Hopkinson/Margaret Grindell/Tracey Warwick
Daily Mail Foursomes - Congratulations to Kath Barnes and Hilary Cherry who won the first round of the Daily Mail Foursomes, played away at Hallowes, by 5 & 3. Drawn at home for the following round they defeated Chatsworth by 3 & 1. Described as a hard battle, but a great win.
