Ashover Brass Band
Ashover Brass Band gave a great performance on Friday 19th December, starting with the music popular with the forces during to 1914-18 war period before the interval.
During the half hour break Neil managed to get round everyone with wonderful steak pie and mushy peas.
After the interval the band then played all the traditional carols when everyone joined in.
Children’s Christmas Party.
This took place on Sunday 20th Decem-ber, this year though it took on a different format as there was no Clown but a story teller, face painter, father Christmas, party games and a disco.
This seemed to go down well and the children and parents seemed to enjoy the afternoon.
Neil again produced the usual lovely tea for them all and Santa gave all the children attending a selection box so I am sure they went away happy!
New Years Eve
Again this was an exceptionally well attended evening with the club offering excellent value for money.
Neil and his staff produced an excellent menu which included some of the best fillet steak around. There was a good choice of starters and sweets to follow also included was a cheese board, coffee and mints.
The band started to play just after 21:15 and had everyone up on the floor during the evening as they played the popular kind of music for the members.
During the band’s first interval it gave time for the catering staff to clear away some of the dishes from the tables to make room for more bottles! The band then came back and played until 23:15, taking a break for everyone to order their drinks ready for midnight. Recom-mencing at 23:45, getting everyone that could get on the floor ready for Big Ben.
At the stroke of Big Ben everyone linked arms and the band played Auld Lang Syne.
The band continued to play until 12:30 am before packing up their kit to return another year!
All in all I would say a good time was had by all.
