Welcome to The Chesterfield Golf Club

The Chesterfield Golf Club (also known locally as Walton golf club), is a beautiful, well established and wonderfully maintained parkland course set amidst stunning views in North East Derbyshire. You can be assured of a wonderful welcome in our very attractive clubhouse bar, lounge and restaurant which have spectacular views down the 10th and 18th fairways towards the Peak District.

You may also view current green fees and special offers for visiting parties. Look out for our next Open Day - Saturday 31st March 10 am - 3 pm - do come along for an informal chat.

Our improvement programme has contributed to our course becoming what we believe is the one of the most attractive and highest quality courses in the North Midlands, also easily accessible from Sheffield and South Yorkshire.


We have a few full membership vacancies within the Chesterfield Golf Club, the best club in the area both for social and playing facilities. We also have Debenture Membership (payment in advance for 5, 10 or 15 years) and facilities for payment of subscriptions by Direct Debit annually or spread over 10 months. CONGU Handicapping Changes

Changes to the CONGU Unified Handicapping System (UHS) came into effect on the 1st January 2018, documents (see below) explain the changes that have been introduced.
The most significant changes are:
The retirement of “Club Handicaps”, which is replaced by a new Category 5 (28.5 to 36.4) for Men and Category 6 (36.5 to 54.0) for both Men and Women, providing for a maximum handicap of 54.0 for all golfers.
Rules for Supplementary Scores has been relaxed to allow an unlimited number of score submissions per year and removal of the restriction of one per week. However, the restriction on Category 1 players remains.
England Golf have also issued some guidance in the shape of Frequently Asked Questions & Answers, these documents have also been made available here and here.

Welcome Ethan

Ethan Rockley, Assistant Pro at Chesterfield Golf ClubWelcome to my new assistant, Ethan Rockley. He previously played his golf at Breadsall Priory off a 2 handicap, has represented Derbyshire throughout his junior golf and was captain of both under 16 and under 18s. He has started his PGA training alongside his work in the shop and the club. I hope you will give him as warm a welcome as I received all those years ago when I was started as an assistant.

Captains' Charity 2017

2017 Captains, Chris Lightfoot and Liz Cromwell will hand over a cheque for £6577.22 to Ashgate Hospice, their chosen charity. Thank you to everyone who supported this magnificent effort.

New Secretary/Manager

Mike Aves, our Chairman, introducing Sean Boyle, a member of our Club with the administrative, marketing, communication and sponsorship skills that will be essential in ensuring the long-term growth and sustainability of the Club, who has been appointed to succeed Trevor Glover on his retirement. We wish Sean every success in his new role. Sean and Trevor will work together during a short handover period.
