President and Captains
2012/13 Club President, Chris Neate

Born in 1941 in Ireland, a retired Bank Manager and a Club Member for well over 55 years. Chris has a long family association with the Club. His father was Treasurer, Captain and President and he has followed the same path. Chris’s sister was the Centenary Lady Captain.
Chris’s golf is middle of the road, not middle of the fairway, but he has seen some success in winning Captain’s Day in 1975 and the Broom Mixed Foursomes in 2005, with the help of a very good lady partner.
Chris now feels that our Club is in a very good position to again become one of the premier Derbyshire courses.
2012/13 Men's Captain, Les Spencer
Les joined Chesterfield Golf Club in 1993, but due to commitments in his working life did not play golf on a regular basis until retiring in 2005, although during that period he retained an enthusiastic interest in both the game generally and Chesterfield Golf Club in particular.
In his working life, he was a Mining Engineer involved in developing and selling machines to companies around the world. One major project involved living in America for 5 years during which they played an active part in their local golf club. Les says “they”, because his wife, Peggy, is a keen golfer and also a member of Chesterfield Golf Club.
Since retirement Les has had more time to play golf and enjoy renewing old friendships and making many new ones. Les and Peggy also take part in most of the social functions organised by the club.
Les joined the Committee in 2010, but, prior to that, had been had been heavily involved in the Veterans section, latterly as Chairman.
2012/13 Vice-Captain, Terry Woodhouse
Aged 72, Terry is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and retired PLC Company Director. He was born and educated in Chesterfield and has been a playing member of Chesterfield Golf Club for over 60 years.
Terry was Derbyshire Boys’ Champion in 1956 and was awarded County Second Team colours during the early 1960’s.
He's served as a committee member and Chairman of General Committee during the early/mid eighties.
Over recent years Terry's worked with Alan Miles alongside greens staff and STRI representatives in the fields of general course management and particularly in the identification and restoration of the course drainage infrastructure. You are sure to have seen Terry and Alan around the course poking and prodding the drainage chanels!
Terry's principal ambition as Vice Captain is to endeavour to assist in the restoration of harmonious relationships within the club following recent problems.
2012/13 Ladies Captain Anne Gillam has been a member for just over 9 years having been encouraged to play by her husband, Steve, also a member. She retired early from her job as a physiotherapist at Walton hospital five years ago, with one of her objectives being to play more golf. She has been a committee member for two years and also organised the mixed friendly matches last year, which the Ladies greatly enjoy. She didn't played ball sports after leaving school so golf was quite a challenge for her. Her interests were horse riding, skiing and gardening. Now golf has taken over and she and Steve are soon to move to a smaller house and garden. To add to an already busy year, her daughter is getting married in September. Anne and Steve became grandparents two years ago which means frequent visits to London to see their grandson.
