It was good to see that we had an increased number of entrants this year, even though the weather conditions were not great. Despite this the scores were quite good.

Junior Open 2011

The Junior Open exceeded all expectations this year with a record number of entries, 63 from all corners of the county. The weather played its part in providing excellent conditions for playing golf with bright sunshine and a light breeze. The course stood to the test, providing a competition scratch score of 70.

A number of volunteers from the membership together with Professionals, Greens and Catering staff combined to ensure that all our entrants had a memorable and enjoyable competition, one which we hope provided everyone with the chance to gain satisfaction from expressing their skills and ability in the sport of golf. 

It was also pleasing for Nigel Furness and his team at Derbyshire Golf, to see so many young golfers competing and provides reassurance that their efforts to improve junior participation in our sport are being realised.

Thanks must also go to our Club Vice Captain, Les Spencer and our Junior Captain, Philip White who presented the prizes.

The event was formerly recorded by Mike Firth of the Twist Magazine, who is to complete an article to illustrate the success of the day.

Format:- 18 hole medal - open to all Junior competition winners. Full handicap

CLARENCE TROPHY

Format:- 36 hole scratch competition to be played off full handicap,  limited to junior members with a handicap of less than 24.                       

GIBRALTAR TROPHY

Format:- Trophy donated for annual match between Chesterfield and Seacroft (Skegness), open to all juniors

INGLETON - ALEXANDER         

Format:- Pairs Knockout - four ball better ball stableford, open to all Juniors. Played off 3/4 handicap

JUNIOR KNOCK OUT

Format:- Match play off handicap - open to all Juniors

JUNIOR SHIELD

Board competition, medal play off full handicap. Maximum handicap - Boys 28, Girls 36

JUNIOR OPEN - Download 2011 details , application form and current order of play - Format:- Single medal off handicap. Open competition for boys and girls.  Competitors must be Under 18 as at 01.01. Handicap limits 24 boys 30 girls.

JUNIOR ORDER OF MERIT

Format:- Ongoing competition throughout season. Open to all juniors entering medal competitions, for 2010, the best 4 scores counted, for subsequent seasons, the best 6 scores will count
