Welcome to The Chesterfield Golf Club, Walton

18th Hole to Clubhouse of The Chesterfield Golf ClubThe Chesterfield Golf Club (also known locally as Walton Golf Club), is a beautiful, well established and wonderfully maintained parkland course set amidst stunning views in North East Derbyshire.

You can be assured of a wonderful welcome in our very attractive clubhouse bar, lounge and restaurant which have spectacular views down the 10th and 18th fairways towards the Peak District. Come and enjoy the quality of our catering services which is second to none.

Visitors can find out more information about our course and view photo sequences of most of our holes. You may also view current green fees and special offers for visiting parties.

We have recently completed a significant course improvement programme, including redesigning and replacing the majority of our bunkers, the benefits of which can already be seen. Many of the other changes have contributed to our course becoming what we believe is the most attractive and highest quality courses in the North Midlands.

Members of the club have their own sections of the site, accessed by using the menu at the top of each page, and can check up on upcoming fixtures, see results of competitions, and keep abreast of both recent club news and general golfing news through the newsfeed to the right of this page . An application form for membership of the DGU Inter-County Card scheme is available for download here.

Social Events

Our Club provides a number of Social Events thoughout the season and members' and guests' support for them is welcomed. Not only do they provide an excellent evening's food and entertainment and the opportunity to socialise with friends, but they also, through bar turnover, offer significant help to the Club. Please keep an eye on the noticeboard in the entrance hall.

The Club's 250 Club still has many opportunities available for entry - please ask at the bar. Again, if fully supported, this would provide significant help to the Club. The final draw is scheduled for the Captain's Weekend Casino Night on Friday, 5th July.

Course Status

The golf course is really looking a picture now. Consistent growth is just about there and the areas worked upon through the winter are filling in nicely. The rain we are watching through the window at the moment is really welcome and will help speed up the growth.

We know the greens are somewhat ‘firm’ but, unfortunately, that hasn’t lessened the number of pitch marks being left unrepaired on them. Please remember to repair your pitch-mark.

A number of members have asked about the debris behind the first tee. This is still a work-in-progress that will be completed as soon as possible.

A few weeks ago, the golf course received spring fertiliser to all closely mown areas and we are now really seeing the benefits. The spring flush of growth we always hope for is now here. Considering how dry it was after the snow melted this is quite remarkable.

Our cutting regimes are now in full swing and the course is really starting to look green and stripy. The greens are now mown at their summer height and have really come through a difficult spring period very well.

This Spring really shows the benefit of working round the weather and taking opportunities when the conditions permit. The hollow coring we carried out in the first week in March means any topdressings and aeration we now do will only be conducive to summer play

The tidying around the course is now close to completion for another year with wildflowers being sown.

All in all the course is in great condition for the time of year and after the difficult spring we have seen.

As we are coming out of winter and the course is beginning to grow a request from the Green Committee. Would members please note that soft, spikes in golf shoes are the preferred option..

Congratulations to Mark and all his team for their excellent work over Autumn and Winter, despite the weather.
