Welcome to the Chesterfield Golf Club

The Chesterfield Golf Club (also known locally as Walton golf club), is a beautiful, well established and wonderfully maintained parkland course set amidst stunning views in North East Derbyshire. You can be assured of a wonderful welcome in our very attractive clubhouse bar, lounge and restaurant which have spectacular views down the 10th and 18th fairways towards the Peak District.

Come and enjoy the quality of our catering services which is second to none. Visitors can find out more information about our course and view photo sequences of most of our holes. You may also view current green fees and special offers for visiting parties. Look out for our next Open Day - do come along for an informal chat.

We have completed a significant course improvement programme, which has contributed to our course becoming what we believe is the one of the most attractive and highest quality courses in the North Midlands, also easily accessible from South Yorkshire.

Sheffield Union

Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs
Is anyone interested in a day out playing competitive golf on different courses?
Every year the Sheffield Union offer 6 days out to members at much reduced green fees on a whole range of different Golf courses. This year they offered: Wheatley May 13th; Renishaw June 3rd; Roundwood July 2nd; Hallamshire July 21st; Grange Park August 19th; Tankersley Park September 15th.
Lifelong membership is just £15, this is a real bargain when players can save £15 on one game's Green Fees. Currently Chesterfield have 15 members enrolled, and the SUGC would welcome more. Entry forms can be obtained from Trevor and all are welcome. If you have any queries please contact Barry Twigg on 07785 293230.

Latest Course News

During August, all the greens were verti-drained, top-dressed and brushed, then micro-tined, top-dressed and brushed. In total some 50 tonnes of top dressing was applied. All this work is carried out to provide firm and free-draining greens for play through the winter season.
Our STRI Agronomist, Stuart Ormandroyd, has visited to inspect the course. His report is awaited but there is no reason to believe it will be anything other than positive. One comment he did make during his visit was to congratulate the Club, and the Green Staff particularly. The samples taken from our 1st, 6th and 18th greens were the best samples analysed through the whole of last year, and that includes all of the championship courses they look after.
But we still can’t repair our pitch-marks or rake our bunkers. It was particularly distressing to find the green on the practice area pitted with pitch-marks this week. Obviously caused by full shots into the green, entirely against Club Rules, which will be applied should the culprit be identified.
