Welcome to the Chesterfield Golf Club

The Chesterfield Golf Club (also known locally as Walton golf club), is a beautiful, well established and wonderfully maintained parkland course set amidst stunning views in North East Derbyshire. You can be assured of a wonderful welcome in our very attractive clubhouse bar, lounge and restaurant which have spectacular views down the 10th and 18th fairways towards the Peak District.

Come and enjoy the quality of our catering services which is second to none. Visitors can find out more information about our course and view photo sequences of most of our holes. You may also view current green fees and special offers for visiting parties. Look out for our next Open Day - do come along for an informal chat.

Our improvement programme has contributed to our course becoming what we believe is the one of the most attractive and highest quality courses in the North Midlands, also easily accessible from South Yorkshire.

Latest Course News

Since Monday last week we have had around 4 inches of rain delivered to the golf course, the monthly average for February is around 3 inches. All efforts are made to make the course playable. All areas of the course, greens, tees and fairways, have been verti-drained and three open ditches have been added to the course to help get rid of the water..

If you have been to the Club recently you may have noticed the arrival of a number of trees alongside the entry road. These have been provided through the continued generosity of Martin and Marie Bonynge and James Bailey. All of the trees are flowering varieties and will add some colour to the drive into the Club.
Many thanks to Martin, Marie and James.

Please refer to our "Repair Work" page for more detail and for the current course Winter Programme.

Greens Notes

What is Fusarium Disease (Microdochium nivale)? It's a devastating disease of lawns in the autumn and winter months, especially newly turfed or seeded lawns.
Fusarium disease on turf usually appears as small orange/brown circular spots of approx 50mm in diameter, which under favourable conditions may join together with other affected areas and completely cover a lawn. Under humid, still conditions, you will notice a white, grey cotton wool like mycelium forming as a small mound on the surface of the lawn. The fusarium disease that has been around has been treated and is no longer active. However, whilst this treatment minimises the risk of spreading it, the risk of fusarium can never be fully eradicated.

Please replace and tread divots well in, repair pitchmarks on the greens and smooth bunkers after play. Thank You. Please read our Blog entry about players' care of the course.

For up-to-date information on whether or not the course is open and any restrictions, please ring the Course Line on 01246 279256 Extension 6 (updated daily at 7.15am). Link to Local BBC Weather forecast.
